Tom McCobb on Monhegan
Tom McCobb was a well-known Maine and New England watercolorist. He studied painting at the Rhode Island School of Design and the National Academy of Design. McCobb taught watercolor classes for many years at the former Round Top Center for the Arts in Damariscotta.
In his Artist's Statement Tom stated: "My painting has been described as 'enhanced representation.' I describe it as intuitive, high contrast and colorful, with only necessary details. I have an aversion to copied photographs – they result in superficial paintings. Above all, I love to paint. It’s a never ending adventure."
Tom's work is included in private and corporate collections worldwide.
